What you will do
As a **Principal Security Architect Artificial Intelligence** , you'll work at the intersection of science, data, and innovation. You'll collaborate with world-class experts across domains to build high-impact digital solutions that accelerate research, streamline operations, and empower better patient outcomes.
You will lead the design and governance of secure Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) systems across our biotechnology ecosystem in Amgen. The Security Architect ensures that advanced AI technologies used in R&D, clinical development, and digital health are resilient, compliant, and ethically designed.
The Security Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams - cybersecurity, bioinformatics, data science, regulatory affairs, and IT - to integrate security into the AI lifecycle. Responsibilities include establishing architectural standards, threat modeling, secure MLOps design, and regulatory alignment for AI systems critical to scientific innovation and patient outcomes.

+ Design and enforce enterprise-level AI/ML security architectures for platforms used in drug discovery, genomics, clinical data analysis, and diagnostics.
+ Ensure security best practices are applied from data acquisition, model training, and validation to deployment, monitoring, and decommissioning.
+ Lead AI-specific threat modeling to address risks such as adversarial attacks, data poisoning, model inversion, and intellectual property leakage.
+ Ensure alignment with healthcare and biotech regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP) and contribute to AI governance and ethical risk frameworks.
+ Architect secure, scalable MLOps pipelines that enable model reproducibility, auditability, version control, and automated security validation.
+ Act as a trusted advisor to R&D, clinical, data science, and infrastructure teams, providing guidance on secure AI design and deployment.
+ Evaluate and integrate AI security tools and frameworks for monitoring, explainability, data privacy, and adversarial robustness.
+ Experience securing containers and orchestrators (Docker, Kubernetes) in AI environments, including runtime security and policy enforcement.
+ Conduct formal reviews of AI system designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise cybersecurity strategy, architectural standards, and zero-trust principles.
+ Proficiency in automating security through IaC tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and CI/CD integration (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
+ Influence enterprise AI security strategy by tracking industry trends, emerging threats, and innovations in synthetic biology, generative models, and AI biosecurity.
+ Domestic and International travel up to 10%.

+ 5-7+ years of experience designing, developing, or managing machine learning systems, with a strong understanding of AI pipelines.
+ Knowledge of designing AI systems with traceable training data, model lineage tracking, reproducibility, and audit trail integration.
+ Experience designing secure MLOps pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker Pipelines, or Vertex AI Pipelines.
+ Familiarity with tools like SHAP, LIME, IBM AI Fairness 360, and Google's What-If Tool to address AI model transparency and bias.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of adversarial machine learning techniques and defenses, including model evasion, poisoning, or inversion.
+ Relevant credentials such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, Certified AI Security Specialist, or GIAC certifications in machine learning and cloud security.
+ Knowledge and application of responsible AI practices, AI ethics, model explainability, and governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 23894.
+ Experience with AI/ML models applied to protein folding, biomarker discovery, clinical trial optimization, or personalized medicine.
+ Ability to incorporate threat intelligence into AI risk assessments and apply it to proactive model defense strategies.
+ Deep understanding of HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, GDPR, and other regulations impacting AI use in healthcare and biotechnology.
+ Expertise in securing sensitive biomedical and genomic data, including anonymization, encryption, and privacy-preserving machine learning techniques.
+ Proven ability to collaborate across security, legal, compliance, data science, and executive teams to influence AI risk and strategy.

- Participar no desenvolvimento de aplicações que utilizam modelos de linguagem (LLMs) em diferentes casos de uso empresariais;
- Colaborar na preparação e tratamento de bases de conhecimento para os modelos, bem como na análise do seu desempenho;
- Contribuir para a documentação técnica e definição de boas práticas no desenvolvimento de soluções baseadas em IA;
- Trabalhar em articulação com equipas multidisciplinares, promovendo a integração da IA em produtos e processos internos;
- Apoiar o desenvolvimento de agentes em Copilot Studio e Azure AI Foundry.

- Recém-licenciado em Engenharia Informática, Ciência de Dados, Matemática Aplicada ou áreas semelhantes;
- Conhecimentos em programação orientada a objetos, algoritmia e boas práticas de desenvolvimento de software;

Requisitos
- Licenciatura em Engenharia Informática ou similar
- Mestrado e/ou Doutoramento em IA, Ciências de dados ou outra área tecnológica relevante
- Mais de 4 anos de experiência como AI/ML Developer
- Fortes competências de programação (Python e/ou outras linguagens de programação, Git, SQL, etc.)
- Expertise avançada no desenvolvimento e deployment de aplicações de AI com Azure (Azure AI Functions, Azure AI Foundry, Azure ML, Azure AI Search, Azure Databricks, etc.) ou outras plataformas cloud
- Experiência avançada com orquestração de LLMs, agentic workflows e arquiteturas RAG
- Experiência de integração em aplicações dos principais modelos/soluções de GenAI de geração de texto, aúdio,vídeo,etc.
- Experiência com NLP, Deep-learning frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow + HF Transformers) e outros modelos de ML
- Experiência em MLOps (desenvolvimento de pipelines de ingestão, pré-processamento, treino/finetuning e deployment de modelos de Machine Learning)
- Domínio de alemão é uma vantagem

- Desenhar a solução e arquitetura e coordenar o desenvolvimento de aplicações AI
- Orientar e mentorar developers juniores e coordenar a disseminação e utilização de ferramentas AI na empresa
- Estar atualizado nas tendências e novos desenvolvimentos AI
- Liderar iniciativas de desenvolvimento de produtos, desde o conceito até à implementação.
- Colaborar diretamente com clientes para compreender desafios e traduzi-los em soluções técnicas.
- Experimentar com tecnologias emergentes, aplicando-as a necessidades reais de negócio.
- Contribuir para a estratégia de produto, garantindo que a inovação esteja no centro de cada solução.
