- Advanced Statistical Analysis: Apply your expertise in statistics to analyze complex datasets, uncovering patterns and insights that inform key decisions.
- Machine Learning Model Development: Design and refine machine learning models, enhancing the capabilities and intelligence of BMW's systems.
- Data Visualization and Communication: Craft compelling visualizations and convey findings to stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Experimentation and A/B Testing: Lead rigorous testing to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies and approaches, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Collaborative Solution Design: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product visionaries, to design data-driven solutions that align with strategic objectives.
Whatever you're working on, here's the lowdown on the technical skills you're likely to have:
- At least 3 years of experience in technical software engineering, good scripting, and programming skills with at least one programming language (Python, Scala) and proficiency with data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, matplotlib, seaborn, sklearn).
- Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL).
- Experience working with public cloud platforms, especially AWS, and according to technologies and services is a plus (e.g. Apache Spark/ AWS glue, Apache HIVE/ AWS Athena, Jupyter/ AWS Sagemaker, ML-LIB).
- Experience with IaC such as Terraform is a plus.
- Expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data mining.
- Advanced experience in applied statistics, Machine Learning, or related fields.
- Experience in analyzing and visualizing complex statistical data is a big plus.
- Experience in automotive data processing / data science is a big plus.

must also
possess the following:
- Embrace agile and its implementation frameworks namely Scrum, to make the most out of all its events and work to keep evolving a high-performing team.
- Be available to be a cross-functional team member by using and developing new skills and enabling a fully responsible team able to cover the whole product lifecycle.
- Use standard software engineering practices and tools like version control, IDEs, data dashboards, to manage and keep a systematic and organized development process.
- Use state of the art DevOps quality practices and tools such as Continuous Integration /Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to build, analyse, perform automated testing and deployment processes, to ensure a streamlined and reliable development workflow.
- Run and operate developed software inside and outside working hours if needed, to provide high quality software services (extra compensation will be applicable).
- Be available to travel abroad for short periods, as required to support all the phases of the product development cycle when needed.
- Have excellent English oral and written skills. German communication skills will be a plus.

About Siemens Foundational Technologies Department
Siemens Foundational Technologies is the central in-house research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens' business units with R&D services, protects the company's intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Your mission will be…
This role is an opportunity for a junior data scientist who is enthusiastic about developing of applications in such areas as satellite and drone images processing, industrial monitoring and analytics, power grids optimization, leak detection in the pipelines, and many others. The business demands new ways of data processing, analysis and visualization, as well as performance optimization and process management based on cutting-edge technologies in web, big data and streaming.
What are the responsibilities?
- Contribute to the development of advanced analytics components within industrial systems, spanning Generative AI, computer vision, condition monitoring, signal processing, and beyond
- Leverage large-scale, heterogeneous industrial data to build impactful AI/ML solutions that address real-world operational challenges
- Support the exploration of untapped opportunities in Generative AI and big data for design, engineering, and analytical applications
- Assist in rapid prototyping, feasibility studies, and the formulation of groundbreaking approaches to validate new ideas
- Collaborate with a highly skilled team of machine learning engineers and software developers in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong background in mathematics, physics or computer science
- Experience and deep understanding in machine learning, signal processing and data mining
- Practical experience with deep neural networks (LLMs or computer vision models)
- Basic software development skills (Git, IDE, Linux)
- Good knowledge of Python or another programming language
- Proficiency with basic data structures and algorithms
- Experience in handling and analyzing large data sets
