Whatever you're working on, here's the lowdown on the technical skills you're likely to have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in technical software engineering, good scripting, and programming skills with at least one programming language (Python, Scala) and proficiency with data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, matplotlib, seaborn, sklearn).
  • Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL).
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms, especially AWS, and according to technologies and services is a plus (e.g. Apache Spark/ AWS glue, Apache HIVE/ AWS Athena, Jupyter/ AWS Sagemaker, ML-LIB).
  • Experience with IaC such as Terraform is a plus.
  • Expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data mining.
  • Advanced experience in applied statistics, Machine Learning, or related fields.
  • Experience in analyzing and visualizing complex statistical data is a big plus.
  • Experience in automotive data processing / data science is a big plus.

What you will do
As a **Principal Security Architect Artificial Intelligence** , you'll work at the intersection of science, data, and innovation. You'll collaborate with world-class experts across domains to build high-impact digital solutions that accelerate research, streamline operations, and empower better patient outcomes.
You will lead the design and governance of secure Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) systems across our biotechnology ecosystem in Amgen. The Security Architect ensures that advanced AI technologies used in R&D, clinical development, and digital health are resilient, compliant, and ethically designed.
The Security Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams - cybersecurity, bioinformatics, data science, regulatory affairs, and IT - to integrate security into the AI lifecycle. Responsibilities include establishing architectural standards, threat modeling, secure MLOps design, and regulatory alignment for AI systems critical to scientific innovation and patient outcomes.

  • Develop and implement machine learning models tailored to CRM and platform contexts.
  • Design and deploy models for retention use cases, anomaly detection, regression analysis, and other predictive analytics tasks.
  • Create and manage automated data pipelines for efficient data processing and model deployment.
  • Ensure seamless integration of machine learning models into existing systems and workflows.
  • Monitor data flows to ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of data used for machine learning models.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
  • Utilize Azure Databricks for data processing, model training, and deployment.
  • Optimize the use of Databricks resources to achieve efficient and cost-effective machine learning solutions.
  • Design and maintain the infrastructure required for machine learning projects, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to manage cloud resources and deployment environments.


You must have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role, with a focus on CRM and platform-based solutions.

• Strong proficiency in developing machine learning models, particularly for retention use cases, anomaly detection, and regression analysis.

• Experience with pipeline automation and data flow monitoring.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks for data processing and machine learning tasks.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure management, preferably within the Azure ecosystem.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala, and experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn).

As a Machine Learning Researcher specializing in STT, NMT, and TTS systems, you will independently and collaboratively conduct research and development of novel models in these domains under the guidance of the Head of R&D. This role requires excellent technical skills and the ability to bring innovative AI solutions from research to robust, production-grade implementations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research and development of novel models in STT, NMT, and TTS, independently or in collaboration with other team members.
  • Build and iterate on research prototypes, conducting experiments and evaluations.
  • Transition promising research into robust, production-grade implementations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and design to bring AI solutions to life.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research in speech and language AI and adapt state-of-the-art ideas to our needs.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, or a related field OR equivalent industry experience in applied AI research.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of:

> Speech recognition models (e.g., experience with open-source toolkits such as Kaldi, DeepSpeech, or ESPnet, or designing and implementing a custom STT system).

> Neural Machine Translation with Transformer-based architectures (e.g., proficiency in frameworks like OpenNMT, Fairseq, or MarianNMT, or hands-on experience developing an end-to-end NMT system).

> Text-to-Speech systems (e.g., familiarity with models like Tacotron, FastSpeech, or WaveGlow, or building a complete TTS pipeline).

> Experience with training, fine-tuning, or adapting large language models such as LLaMA, GPT, Mixtral.

  • Familiarity with handling large datasets and conducting rigorous evaluation of models.
  • Strong software engineering skills, including experience with version control, modular code design, and working with complex codebases.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience deploying ML models to production environments (cloud or on-prem).
  • Proficiency in C# and .NET (our broader platform is built in .NET technologies).
  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, and CSS) for prototyping demo interfaces.
